A Fort Fairfield youth has advanced in the PGA’s Drive, Chip and Putt competition.
Michael Bruce took first place in the ages 7-9 division at the state event, held at Val Halla Golf and Recreation Center in Cumberland June 4, 2016.
He topped a field of 22 golfers by taking first in both driving and chipping and third in putting.
The son of James and Melissa Bruce will next compete in the sub-regional, to be held in Haverhill, Mass. July 31. With a victory, a berth in the regionals would follow. The next step would be the national competition, set for Master’s week in April of 2017 in Augusta, Ga.
