August Festival time approaches
WASHBURN NEWS
Planning is underway for the 2016 Washburn August Festival.
The parade will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, and this year will start at 10 a.m., not 9:30 as it has in past years.
Those interested in the Washburn Alumni Soccer game should contact Greg Miller at (207) 540-7333.
Also on Saturday, Aug. 20, there will be an ATV/SUV rodeo at the clubhouse on Gould Street. This will be free to either play or watch. Kids are welcome to try their luck but must wear a helmet if under the age of 18. Registration begins at 10:30 and the fun begins at 11:30. There will also be a food booth and 50/50 raffle.
There will be an ATV Poker Run/Ride on Sunday, Aug. 21, sponsored by Chandler Farms. Registration is at 9 a.m. and the ride begins at 10. Riders will leave from the clubhouse on Gould Street, go around the Scopan Mountain loop and back to the clubhouse for the hands and announcement of the winners.
The fees are $2 a hand and there will also be a 50/50 raffle. For more information, check out the website at WashburnATVClub.com.
Salmon Brook events

Tickets are $5 for 6 or $1 each, and are available at the museums between 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday afternoons or by calling Rita Kingsbury at 429-9359 or Wanita Hallowell at 540-1154.
