Probus elects officers
Local customs agent speaks
PRESQUE ISLE — The PROBUS Club of Aroostook met at Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle on Thursday, July 21, at Reed Commons. President Dana Crory called the meeting to order.

Nathan Doody of U.S. Customs and Border Protection was the special speaker. He graduated from Washburn High School in 2005 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Maine National Guard until 2010. He started his career with CBP in 2006 at the Houlton Port of Entry.
During his career he has worked on the southwest border in Arizona and also worked in Virginia. He currently is stationed in Van Buren, where he is also an instructor. He gave an overview of some of his responsibilities.
In other business, the club elected Thomas K. Lunn as president for the coming year. Other officers elected were Mellen Fitzherbert, vice president; Lucille Hay, secretary, with Valerie M. Lunn and Margaret Woodman as backup; E. Gerald Gallagher, treasurer, with Richard Barker as backup; and Dana Crory as program director.
The secretary’s report for June was accepted as read. The treasurer’s report was given by Gerald Gallagher.
Attending were Dana Crory, Mellen Fitzherbert, Gerald Gallagher, Priscilla Gallagher, Marion Gilman, Judy Hilton, Ginny Joles, Thomas Lunn, Valerie Lunn, Jane McEwen, Linda Swett, Margaret Woodman and Sharon Lester.
The next PROBUS meeting will be held Thursday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. at Reed Commons.
