The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 137 calls for service from Monday, July 18 to Sunday, July 24. The following incidents were among those addressed:
Monday, July 18
— Tr. Sylvia met with a family in Hodgdon who wanted help in dealing with their juvenile son. The mother reported to Tr. Sylvia that her son had stolen money from her and wanted some guidance in how to handle the situation. The investigation is ongoing.
— Tr. Endre responded to an address in Dyer Brook for the report of a protection order violation. The female caller who now lives out-of-state said that the male was contacting her through a text message. Tr. Endre interviewed the male party, who admitted sending the text. The male was summonsed for violation of a protection order.
Tuesday, July 19
— Tr. Endre stopped a vehicle on I-95. The operator had a suspended license status and was on two sets of bail conditions. After a search of the vehicle and urine test; the male was arrested for operating after suspension and violating conditions of release. The urine test showed positive for methamphetamine.
— Cpl. Michaud, Troopers Curtin, Casavant, and Luce responded to Eagle Lake for a report of a mentally disturbed individual who was smashing windows at a public pavilion at the Eagle Lake boat landing. Tr. Curtin arrived at the scene first and was able to take the subject into custody without incident. Once Tr. Curtin had handcuffed the individual and was speaking with a mental health worker, the individual became uncooperative and began to kick and flail his legs. He also spit on Tr. Luce and inside Tr. Curtin’s cruiser. The 28-year-old male subject was secured with leg restraints and a spit hood and was transported to the NMMC in Fort Kent.
— Cpl. Michaud investigated a criminal mischief complaint in St. Agatha. A local farmer reported that some of his crop land had been damaged by a vehicle that had driven into his field and spun up a small area. Evidence was collected and the investigation is ongoing. The area has been plagued by this type of behavior in recent weeks.
Wednesday, July 20
— Cpl. Quint issued a summons to a 16-year-old juvenile after he threw an end-table around the family living room and into the TV. The male was upset at his mother and stated she never listens to him. While the two were discussing an issue the male became upset causing the damage, estimated at approximately $600.
— Tr. Curtin started a theft investigation in the town of Allagash. Officials reported that during the last week some flags had been stolen from a memorial in town. The investigation is ongoing.
— Tr. Saucier arrested a 29-year-old man from Oakfield on outstanding warrants for failure to appear and criminal threatening. The subject was located at his residence and arrested without incident.
— Tr. Saucier started a criminal threatening/harassment complaint in Patten. A female reported that another local female was threatening and harassing her. The investigation is ongoing.
— Tr. Luce arrested a man in Allagash for a harassment order violation. The arrestee and the victim have had an ongoing dispute; the two are neighbors. During Tr. Luce’s investigation he watched video footage of the man purposely harassing the victim by blowing an air horn while the victim was outside. Tr. Luce also watched video of the arrestee spraying a liquid on the property line that had an odor like skunk urine.
Thursday, July 21
— Tr. Saucier responded to the interstate in Smyrna. MDOT workers reported a suspicious bottle that had been located and workers suspected the bottle has been used to make meth. Tr. Saucier suspected the bottle had been used in the one-pot method for making meth. An MDEA agent took custody of the bottle for proper disposal and follow up.
— Tr. Sucy arrested a Sherman man on three active arrest warrants, one which was a class B felony. Sgt. Clark and Cpl. Quint secured the residence while Tr. Sucy obtained a warrant to enter the residence to make the arrest. The man is known to run from police at every encounter and has specifically ran from Tr. Sucy twice in the past. The man was arrested without incident and transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
— Tr. Pescitelli received a complaint regarding a harassment between a mother, her son, and two other males. Tr. Pescitelli responded and upon investigation discovered that the two younger males had driven onto the lawn of the mother’s residence, gotten out of the vehicle and were threatening the son as well as the mother. Assisted by Sgt. Jeff Clark, the two younger males were found and arrested for terrorizing.
Saturday, July 23
— Tr. Endre stopped a motor vehicle on Main Street in Houlton. The operator was on two sets of bail, both with search and test upon articulable suspicion. Tr. Endre could smell the odor of intoxicating beverages coming from the vehicle. After SFST’s the operator was arrested for OUI and violating conditions of release.
— Troopers Bell and Endre investigated an assault in Linneus. Two females were involved in a physical altercation, but refused to press charges. One female was brought to another residence for the night.
Sunday, July 24
— Tr. Bell investigated a burglary of a camp in the Forkstown area. The investigation is ongoing.
— Tr. Endre went to an address in Staceyville for an anonymous tip about criminal activity. Tr. Endre arrested one 23-year-old female for an active felony warrant. Tr. Endre summonsed a 28-year-old man who was on bail for bail violations; after his urine test showed positive for methamphetamine, oxy, and benzos. Tr. Endre then made a probation referral on a 24-year-old man was on probation for manufacturing of methamphetamine; the 24-year-old’s urine showed positive for methamphetamine and oxy. His probation officer was contacted and said he would handle the offense on Monday.
