Maine is truly a beautiful state to play golf. With many wonderful courses to play in Aroostook County, ours is one of the best.

This past week we hosted the St. John Senior Men’s tour with 110 players from Aroostook county courses and western New Brunswick. A great time was had by all. Dinner was served after by Bill and Nancy. Many positive comments were received about the dinner and course conditions.

Coming this weekend are two tournaments. This Saturday at 8 a.m. will be a 6-6-6, two man team tournament 18 holes, with six being best ball, six scramble, and six alternate shot. Sign up your team or single and we’ll put you together. Cost is $15 for members and $35 for non-members. Saturday evening will be a 9 hole scramble with members and our new GFL golfers.

Don’t forget to put the County Open on your calendar. This year it will be held in the honor of Don Collins. It will be the weekend of Aug. 12, 13, and 14, 2016.

Friday night will be a fish fry and dance held at VaJoWa in Island Falls. Saturday is the individual stroke play tournament at Houlton Golf Course. A gala will be held in the evening at HCGC catered by the Lakeside Restaurant. Sunday’s festivities will be at VaJoWa. An 18-hole scramble will be played there. Proceeds from this weekend will go to the Health Services Foundation. Happy golfing.
