Tennis team takes all five singles divisions

Tournament held at UMPI on July 19, 2016

     PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department’s tennis team turned in a dominating performance at the Northern Maine Community Recreation Association’s singles tournament, played at the University of Maine at Presque Isle courts last Tuesday, July 19, 2016.

     Caribou, coached by John Habeeb, won all five age divisions. Host Presque Isle was the only other recreation department represented.

     In the 10-12 year-old girls’ division, Ashlyn Bouchard picked up the victory, while on the boys’ side, Sawyer Deprey rolled to the win.

    Hailey Holmquist came out on top in the 13-15 girls’ bracket, while Parker Deprey was victorious for 13-15 boys.

     In the 16-18 girls’ category, Gabrielle Marquis took the title. There were no competitors in 16-18 boys

     The annual tourney featured a total of 19 competitors. The doubles competition takes place Thursday, July 28 in Caribou beginning at 9 a.m.
