Summertime festival has a new name
CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Cares About Kids festival is back with a new name: Caribou Days. This year’s event will take place on Friday and Saturday, August 5th and 6th, 2016 with a healthy and active kids theme that ties in with the upcoming Caribou Marathon.
Caribou Marketing and Event Coordinator Lydia Kieffer says that this will be a “spinoff of Caribou Cares About Kids,” and the city is working to further develop the festival.
“This is technically our first year for Caribou Days,” Kieffer said. “We’ve been planning with the department heads for a few months, who have all been a tremendous help. By changing the name, it broadens our options with the event and allows us to plan more in the future.”
The festivities will kick off on Friday, August 5th at 10 a.m. at the Caribou Wellness Center with tie dye T-shirt making and hot dog cookout. At 11 a.m., the United Insurance/Kieffer Agency on High Street will offer free ice cream as part of their Customer Appreciation Day.
The Caribou Days parade will begin later in the afternoon, with floats lining up at 5 p.m. and the procession itself starting on the Skyway Plaza at 6 p.m..
The first day will end at Teague Park with inflatables, games, food, and a showing of Disney’s movie “Inside Out.”
The Caribou Days festivities will continue the following day at Teague Park with activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..
