Transportation group plans railroad meeting

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Maine Better Transportation Association will host a presentation by Ryan Ratledge, COO of Central Maine and Quebec Railway (CMQR), on Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Northeastland Hotel in Presque Isle.
A reception at 5 p.m. will be followed by dinner and the rail presentation, which will begin at approximately 6:45 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $35 and an RSVP is required.
Ratledge will discuss CMQR’s recent capital investments in its rail infrastructure and plans for operations in Maine, including the company’s contract with the state of Maine to operate the 58-mile Rockland Branch line.
Ratledge is responsible for CMQR’s transportation, engineering and mechanical groups, He began his railroad career in 1994 as a switchman with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Corp. He joined RailAmerica as general manager of the Puget Sound and Pacific Railroad in 2007 and in 2008 was promoted to general manager of the Indiana and Ohio Railway in Cincinnati, prior to his position at CMQR.
