ISLAND FALLS, Maine — Amazing weather and conditions at VaJoWa this past weekend, plus there is lots more great golf and tournaments to come.
Here are the results of our 51st Anniversary 18-hole Field Day which was held on Saturday, July 30, 2016. First gross went to Warren Walker, 76; second gross, Nick Cullen, 79; first net, Bill Dwyer, 67; second net, Greg Douglas, 68; and third net, Clay Halliday, 70.
Pairs and Spares Red/White/Blue mixed scramble: 1, Ricky Bates, Candy Kelley and Ted Pettengill, 33; 2, Ken Webb, Heidi Hollis and Ben Walker, 33; and 3, Francis Cyr, Brent Kelley, John Porter and Jon Smallwood, 33. The tiebreaker was determined by handicap holes.
The Pairs and Spares golfers meet each Sunday at 3 p.m. There is a $2.50 entry fee per person. Come join us!
Moonlight Golf will be this Friday, Aug. 5 starting at 9 p.m. The cost is $25 per person and includes cart, glow ball and prizes. Sign up your foursome early since the field is limited.
Don’t forget County Open weekend is coming right up! The fun begins Friday, Aug. 12 at VaJoWa/The Maine Slice Restaurant from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with $1 from each Fish Fry menu item and half the door from the 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. DJ Dance being donated to Health Services Foundation.
Saturday is the 18-Hole Tournament at Houlton Community Golf Club followed by The County Open Dinner and Reverse Raffle. Then Sunday back at VaJoWa for The County Open 4-Person Scramble on the Aug. 14. Entry fee for each tournament/scramble is $50 per entrant (includes greens fee and a free practice round for each event participating in). Cart rental is not included.
