ACAP appoints Soucy as Valley job counselor
FORT KENT — Aroostook County Action Program Inc. has announced the appointment of Linda Soucy as a job counselor to ACAP Workforce Development’s Fort Kent office.
“We are pleased to have Linda Soucy join us,” said Christy Daggett, senior manager. “We are excited about the enhanced efforts Linda will bring to our workforce development activities, particularly in the St. John Valley.”
Soucy’s time will be divided between Fort Kent, Madawaska and other communities. Her service area will extend from the eastern border of Van Buren to Eagle Lake.
Soucy is well-known to ACAP and the St. John Valley. In addition to her new role, she will continue to serve as an ed tech III for the ACAP Early Care and Education Center, Fort Kent.
“Each day I look forward to helping young families through our Head Start programs,” Soucy said. “I am grateful to now work with those individuals who seek training and education to further their employment opportunities.”
Soucy is an active member of her community, particularly with volunteering in activities that benefit young people, be it sports or most recently Fort Kent Project Graduation.
“Being involved in the community is so important,” she said. “I see my work at ACAP as an extension of those efforts.”
As a job counselor , Soucy will meet one-on-one with job seekers and people wishing to complete high school or college. She will assist customers with such items as job search and placement assistance; developing personal employment plans; tutoring; high school completion; college preparation; occupational training; how to start a business; and paid on-the-job training and work experience in high-wage, high-demand careers
