Library tag sale

The Walter T. A. Hansen Memorial Library is getting ready to run its annual Tag Sale at the former Grew’s store in Mars Hill. It will be open various hours — Saturdays, some evenings, etc. Basically, if there are lights on and cars outside, it’s open.
If you would like to volunteer and help with the sale, please contact Ione Dixon at 429-8790. Even a few hours would be appreciated.
If you have items to donate for the sale, contact the library at 429-9625 to arrange for a time to drop off items or to have them picked up. Thank you to all who help with this fundraiser!

Rotary Club

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Aug. 2 at the Aroostook Health Center and the guest speaker was Brian Harris of the Maine State Police. He spoke about being part of the security force at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio recently.
He and six others from Maine were part of a group of 1,500 troopers sent from 22 states to
help the local police forces during the convention. The Maine group helped as part of teams of five patrolling on foot in the area around the convention center. They put in very long days but were pleased with the way the event went and Harris said it was a good learning experience for them.

Food Cupboard need

The Mars Hill Food Cupboard is in need of a special volunteer that can be available on the first Wednesday of each month from 2-5 p.m. for the food delivery. This individual or couple will be responsible for unloading the food products and stocking them on the shelves. For more information, please contact Caroline Hallett at 429-9059. Please consider this volunteer opportunity as a way to help those in need.

Bridgewater music

Thursday night music is back in swing at the Bridgewater Historical Center. Playing from 6-9 p.m. each Thursday, the group plays some great foot tapping music.
