PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Winners in several divisions have been announced following the running and biking competitions held July 29 and 30, 2016 during the annual Nordic Heritage Center Trail Fest.
In the downhill races, Clay Gregg of Mapleton took first place in the kids’ open division with a time of 2:17.5 for his two runs. Makail Tipton of Woolwich was second in 2:24.2.
Chad McPherson of Presque Isle won the men’s open division in 1:45.5 and Dan Schall of Plainfield, Vt. was the runner-up in 1:48.5. Renee Folnsbee of Brewer was the women’s open winner in 2:15.3.
In the six-hour endurance races, for solo women, Alicia MacLeay of Rome won by completing nine laps with a 38:26 pace, with Amy Chartier of Fort Fairfield second by completing eight laps with a 44:56 pace.
For solo men, Paul Dionne of Madawaska was the champion with 10 laps at a 29:18 pace and John Rodrigue of Pownal was second with 10 laps at a 37:21 pace.
In the two-person co-ed running category, Joey and Kallie Bard won with 12 laps at a 28:10 pace. Close behind were Danielle and Ryan Triffitt of Topsham, who completed 12 laps with a 28:57 pace.
In two-women team running, Kayla Buck and Jennifer VanDongen of Mapleton won with 13 laps at a 26:12 pace. The runners-up were Sarah Beaulieu of Fort Fairfield and Izzy Jackson of Presque Isle, with seven laps at a 41:44 pace.
Cody Johnson and Kelsie Dickinson of Fort Kent were first in the open team run by completing 14 laps with a 25:08 pace. The Mars Hill quartet of Kyle Taylor, Shannon Taylor, Devin Targonski and Shane Durost completed 11 laps with a 30:12 pace.
For biking, the solo men victor was Bill Brown of Stetson, who completed eight laps at a 42:32 pace. Adam Bland of Presque Isle was next with eight laps at a 42:52 pace.
\ Capturing the solo women’s category was Sarah Vickers of Holden with seven laps at a 53:29 pace, followed by Cathy Morton of Farmington with six laps at a 52:07 pace.
Matthew and Meaghan Swan of Farmington took the two-person co-ed division with five laps at a 1:05.59 pace. Renee Folnsbee and Emmy Monahan of Brewer were first for two-person women with seven laps completed at a 48:10 pace.
Seth Hubbard and Matthew Michaud of Fort Kent prevailed in the two-person men category with eight laps at a 40:28 pace, with David and Thomas Cassidy of Bangor second with eight laps in a 43:54 pace.
For open team, Bill Schall, Dan Schall and Tim Livingston took the top spot with eight laps at a pace of 44:02. In second were Bruce Kobles, Thomas Chasse, Gary Dyer and David Nadeau with six laps at a 54:10 pace.
Taking first place in the biathlon kids’ bike race was Makail Tipton of Woolwich in 19:22.7 and in second was Eoin O’Mahoney of Whitefield in 19:51.1. In the men’s division, Jonah Cushman of Old Town won in 18:10.9 and P.J. Hitchcock of Westbrook was the runner-up in 18:12.4.
