Real estate board taps Towle
PI business leader named officer with Maine Listings
SOUTH PORTLAND — Maine Real Estate Information Systems (Maine Listings) has a new presence in Aroostook County.
Jane Towle of Presque Isle, broker/owner at RE/MAX Central, was recently appointed as first vice president of Maine Listings Board of Directors, headquartered in South Portland. Maine Listings operates the statewide multiple listing service, which provides essential real estate data on actively listed and sold properties in Maine to licensed real estate professionals.
“We encourage all our colleagues statewide to subscribe to Maine Listings, so that they can be best informed on what is happening in the industry on the state level, and have their voices heard on a national level, as they should be,” Towle said.
In welcoming Towle to the board, current President Marc Chadbourne noted her impressive resume, which includes 26 years in the real estate industry and diverse leadership roles. Co-founded by Towle and partner Lehrle Kieffer in 2004, RE/MAX Central has grown to include three offices (Presque Isle, Caribou and Fort Kent) and become one of The County’s largest agencies.
Chadbourne emphasized that Towle’s qualifications and expertise are perfectly suited to meet the challenges and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead for the industry and Maine Listings.
“Maine Listings not only delivers comprehensive listing information; we also keep our subscribers abreast of the latest technologies, especially those that are most relevant to our profession,” he said. “Our industry has tremendous challenges ahead and we must continue to advocate for homeowners and ownership. Jane is well-prepared to lead our organization through this rapidly changing environment.”
John Ustach, Maine Listings CEO, joined Chadbourne in saluting Towle’s board membership.
“Serving as a Board leader, despite the geographical challenges, only highlights Jane’s commitment to working on behalf of her colleagues throughout the state,” he said. “Maine is unique in the nation in having a single statewide multiple listing service, and bringing Jane as an Aroostook County real estate professional ‘into the fold’ as a representative of our industry is a great step”.
“The unified voice we speak with can become that much stronger throughout the state as well as nationwide, and Jane’s professional style is a match to Maine Listings’ highly cooperative model,” Ustach added.
Towle knows that her expanding role with Maine Listings comes at a key time. “Significant decisions are looming in the industry. How our real estate data is shared regionally and nationally is a critical question, and Maine as a one-MLS system model is a key player in the nation” she said. “Maine Listings will lead the way in shaping the future for Maine real estate professionals. I am honored to be part of that effort.”
Towle recently represented Maine at the CoreLogic International conference in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Corelogic is a leader in property and financial data and analysis, and is considered one of the most comprehensive real estate repositories in the world today. While in Ottawa, Jane was able to join in discussions with national industry leaders and gained a better understanding how future decisions made at Maine’s state level will impact the real estate industry for years to come.
Towle has also been invited to participate in the National Association of Realtor’s Broker Idea Exchange Council in Washington, D.C. next May.
