Long will help keep government in its place
To the editor:
I am very pleased to write this letter of support for Rick Long who is running to represent the people of Presque Isle, as well as all of southern Aroostook County and northern Penobscot in the Maine State Senate. I would be proud to have him as my State Senator.
Rick has served as a State Representative for four terms and has proven himself to be a principled leader on the issues that matter for Aroostook County. He has earned the trust of his constituents time and time again, and I am confident he will continue to serve us well as a State Senator.
Having been an educator, I have had the joy of getting to know generations of County students and see them grow. Unfortunately, I have also seen too many young people move away from their hometowns and never return. We need to work to stop that; we need to have policies in place in Maine that help Aroostook County thrive and provide opportunities for Mainers.
Rick Long, a lifelong County resident, knows that, and he knows that getting government out of the way is the best way to allow businesses to thrive and to hire more people. He knows that we need to support our region’s heritage industries – farming, logging, etc. – as well as allow new ideas to flourish. Neither requires the government coming in and telling us what to do.
I firmly support Rick Long for State Senate and encourage you to join me in doing so. Presque Isle and all of northern Maine would benefit from
continuing to have his principled leadership at the State House.
