Dushko Venelinov Vulchev, 39, a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Bulgaria, was indicted on the assault charge for an incident that occurred on May 29 while he was in custody at the Aroostook County Jail, according to a copy of the indictment.

Vulchev did “intentionally, knowingly or recklessly cause bodily injury or offensive physical contact to a corrections officer, corrections supervisor or other member of the staff of an institution while the officer was performing official duties,” the charge states.
