Three arrested in heroin, cocaine bust
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A local couple and a Bronx man were arrested on Wednesday morning in connection with the distribution of heroin and cocaine, officials said.
A search warrant executed at a Reach Road residence resulted in the arrests of Akahenten Ferguson, 28, of the Bronx, Nathan Manning-Harris, 31, and Alexsea Cholewa, 22, both of Presque Isle, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Commander Peter Arno said.
The arrests were part of an ongoing effort focused on the importation of heroin into Aroostook County.
Seized from an apartment were 125 bags of heroin and nearly two ounces of cocaine valued at $9,000, Arno said.
Ferguson is facing two charges of unlawful drug trafficking and is being held at the Aroostook County Jail on $10,000 bail. Manning-Harris and Cholewa are each facing one count of unlawful drug trafficking. No bail was allowed for Manning-Harris, as he had been out on bail on a pending MDEA drug trafficking charge, while Cholewa was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible. The Department of Health and Human Services was notified, as there were two children, ages 2 and 4, present at the time of the search warrant.
