Fort Kent music event looking for community and student volunteers
FORT KENT, Maine — The Foliage Music Fest is rapidly approaching and organizers are asking the people of the St. John Valley to step up and volunteer for the exciting fall event. With the BDN organizing the event through the Fort Kent Outdoor Center (FKOC) and the St. John Valley Times/Fiddlehead Focus, an important volunteer meeting is taking place at the FKOC on August 31, 2016 at 6 p.m.
Organizers have set into motion plans for 1,000 people to attend the musical event, which features five popular Maine bands. Northeast Publishing General Manager and Fiddlehead Focus founder Andrew Birden said, “We are seeking community members and students to help make the celebration a success.”
At Foliage Music Fest, young and old music lovers will hear the sounds of a variety of popular Maine bands, such as The Ghost of Paul Revere, Dark Hollow Bottling Company, the Soggy Po Boys, Travis Cyr and Ellis Paul.
Set at the height of the fall colors, organizers say the seasonal beauty of the St. John Valley will inspire music and fun for everyone.
Birden said Foliage Music Fest promises to be “a real northern Maine event with Maine music and Maine people. It’s going to be amazing.”
All volunteers will have a chance to enjoy the all-day event on Sunday, September 18, whether they help out setting up on Saturday, or if they work on Sunday. Julie Daigle, who has helped with multiple civic organizations and organized volunteers in a variety of sports events, is leading the team of volunteers.
“We have some great leadership for our volunteers through the goodnatured expertise of Julie Daigle, who has stepped forward to be our volunteer coordinator. She has a knack for helping people get things done,” said Birden.
Persons interested in volunteering should come to the meeting on August 31.
