Halloween pop-up coming to the mall

The County takes a blow to the gut every time it sees a going-out-of-business sign on a local establishment.

The latest being the Presque Isle Kmart, the loss of another anchor store for the Aroostook Centre Mall. But a good thing about Aroostook County is that it doesn’t take long for a new venture to rise from the ashes to open a business.
Coming to the Aroostook Centre Mall just in time for Halloween is the pop-up seasonal store Spirit Halloween. Folks can expect to find their holiday costumes and decor in the former Staples building at the mall.
The deal to bring the seasonal store to The County has been three years in the making, according to Patti Crooks, the mall’s general manager.
“I wanted something new and exciting,” she said.
With a twitch of her nose and perhaps many negotiations Crooks managed to bring a unique store to northern Maine residents they would otherwise have to venture south to find.
The typical Spirit Halloween pop-up brings 10 to 20 jobs, depending on sales, and a mix of both full-time and part-time positions, according to Crooks.
She knows that to survive in Aroostook County you often have to reinvent yourself and she’s optimistic of the mall’s future.
Get your costume ideas ready. An open date for Spirit Halloween has been set for Saturday, August 27, 2016.
