Mona M. Bickers, 86, a resident of The Seabrook, Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016, after a long battle with alzheimer’s disease. Mrs. Bickers was born in Presque Isle, the daughter of the late Wallace and Florence Johnson.
She was predeceased by a son, Kevin; and a sister, Pauline Cockcroft. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John; daughters, Karlee McKenzie of Austin, TX, Kristy Stephenson of Kirkwood, MO; a granddaughter, Katie McKenzie; a son-in-Law, James McKenzie; a niece, Cheryl Cockcroft of Covington, KY; and a nephew, Tom Cockcroft and his wife, Rebecca of Tucson, AZ.
Mrs. Bickers attended Presque Isle High School and Endicott College. She met and married her husband in Presque Isle where he was stationed in the Air Force. The couple lived in Cedar Falls and Cedar Rapids, IA, and St. Louis, MO, before moving to Hilton Head in 1992. They moved to The Seabrook retirement community in 2009.
She was a homemaker, traveled extensively and was an avid tennis player.
