“Surgical Podiatrist, Dr. Steve Farina brings much needed expertise to the region,” said Jim Davis, CEO.

“If untreated, foot problems can pose unique challenges, especially for older people,” explained Davis. “As a surgical specialist he is not only able to diagnose and manage general podiatric services, he is experienced in forefoot surgery, as well as reconstructive rear foot and ankle surgery.”

Prior to moving to Aroostook County, Farina was the chief resident in one of the nation’s largest podiatric surgery residency programs at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, a 350-bed teaching hospital located in the Wyckoff Heights section of Brooklyn, New York. The hospital is an academic affiliate of the Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University.

There, in addition to training in all facets of podiatric surgery, he also provided surgical and medical management of chronic lower extremity wounds and infections.

Farina will be scheduling surgery and planning cases in cooperation with Pines attending physicians and the Cary Medical Center operating room team. Office hours are by appointment. He began seeing patients at the Pines Orthopedics & Sports Medicine office Aug. 25.

In his spare time he enjoys family, flying as a licensed private pilot and learning to play the guitar. Farina’s spouse and teenage son will join him in relocating to Caribou.
