Female racer wins at Spud

     CARIBOU, Maine — The Friday Night Kart Series continued Friday at Spud Speedway and history was made along the way.

     Avery Lloyd of New Denmark, New Brunswick became the first female winner in any class in the four years that karts have raced at the track. The daughter of Matthew and Char-Marie Lloyd came in first in the kids’ kart division, followed by Kayden Haines of Caribou and Parker Bosse of Limestone.

     Noah Coventry of Van Buren was the fastest in the junior champ carts division, with Bryan Searles of Presque Isle taking second and Hunter Bennett of Prospect third.

     Damian Theriault of Caribou won the senior champ karts class, with Jason Theriault of Caribou the runner-up and Marcel Bosse of Caribou in third.

     The season finale for the series will be Saturday Sept. 10, 2016 at 10 a.m. Double feature races for all classes will be held. An awards barbecue will follow the racing with the crowning of season points champions. For fans, there is no admission to the grandstands and tickets for the pit area are $10.
