Viva E. Houston

     CARIBOU — Viva E. Houston, 88, wife of Ronald G. Houston, passed away Wednesday evening, August 24, 2016 at a Caribou healthcare facility following an extended illness. 

     She was born August 14, 1928, in East Machias, the daughter of Clarence and Delena (Bagley) Berry. She was a graduate of the East Machias School System and was married to Ronald G. Houston on September 19, 1951. She loved to travel, especially to Alaska and through the Canadian provinces. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading, however her greatest joy was her grandchildren. 

     In addition to her parents, Viva was predeceased by one daughter, Brenda Lee Houston Crews, one granddaughter, Elizabeth M. “Beth” Crews, one brother, Ivan S. Berry, and one sister, Faye Hawkins. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ronald of Caribou, one daughter, Julie A. Houston Outing of Caribou, two brothers, Edsel F. Berry of Jacksonville, ME, and Arnold Berry of Connecticut, two sisters, Juanita M. Pelletier of Woodstock, CT, and Janice L. Berry, of Jacksonville, ME, three grandchildren, Madison K. and Morgan E. Outing both of Caribou, and Paul Thomas Crews Jr. of Enomclaw, WA, several nieces and nephews.
