Summer is melting away fast

BUG GUTS & BEAUTY

Summer is winding down and soon it will join lots of other memories as just a memory. One sure sign that long, hazy, lazy days of summertime are ending is the change of hours at Houlton Farms Dairy.

Existing as a pop-up shop for the duration of the summer it is a great place to get real ice cream and meet all the friends and neighbors of years gone by. Nothing beats a scoop of fresh ice cream in a simple cone on a hot day.
Ice cream and summertime are joined as antidotes to each other. Too hot? Have a scoop. Too sweet and cool, sit in the sun for an hour or two. With luck and a bit of nudging perhaps at some point in the future there will be a real ice cream shop in downtown. It is the one food that invites people to linger and nibble at a table, all the time wondering how to keep the moment lasting until closing.
Yes, there are such things as frozen yogurt that are tasty. But the king of all summer foods has got to be ice cream. Memory of a hot summer day of hay and showers make the milk. Cream from that milk rises to the top and then it’s turned into luscious ice cream that melts in the mouth triggering those long forgotten thoughts of summertime.
Savor the last of the summer shine in a scoop of ice cream.
