The Viking golf team opened its season by hosting a pair of matches, one played in Mars Hill and the other at Caribou Country Club.
On Friday, Old Town and John Bapst made the trip north to compete against the Vikings at Mars Hill Country Club. Caribou posted 225 strokes to finish below Old Town (185) and ahead on John Bapst (241).
Bailey Griffeth scored a 49 and Connor Plourde a 56 as the Vikings’ leading golfers on the afternoon. Cole Daniel of the Coyotes captured medalist honors with a 41.
At Caribou Monday, Griffeth had a 47 and Plourde a 49 as the Vikings scored 201 to beat Calais and Penobscot Valley of Howland. Makenzie Plourde of PVHS was the medalist with a 46.
Stewart Curtis, Gabe Rand and Noah Rosado were the other competitors for the Vikings, which currently has a 3-1 record.
