The Club Championship/ Presidents Cup was held this weekend and was well attended. It was a two-day tournament, with Porter Gervais holding on to a two-stroke lead after the first round. Under cloudy skies four players, separated by three shots battled for the lead. In the end, Porter Gervais held off Ryan Dee by one stroke, shooting a combined 148.

The high school junior division was won by Drew Marino, with a 160. The women played 18 holes on Saturday. The winner was Barb Moakler followed by Kara Marino. Junior division winner was Collin Moody.

This weekend we will have our annual Babe Caron Memorial tournament. It will be a two-day event with two-person teams, using 80 percent handicap on Saturday and full handicap on Sunday. Enter your team by 8 p.m. Wednesday to allow for handicap verification. It is a member-guest or member-member format. Friday night will be a social night featuring a long drive contest and a 130-yard accuracy chip shot.

Entertainment at 6 p.m. will be “Undertone” in the lounge. Coming events include Men’s Twilight League playoffs Sept. 10 and 11, 2016. The Ryan Wright-Elks Memorial Scramble will be held on Sept. 17. Also that weekend will be the annual men’s Ryder Cup style competition with Mars Hill Country Club.

The Lakeside Restaurant is still packing them in with prime rib featured on the menu.This will be a busy weekend, so be sure to call Nancy at 694-9494 for reservations. Hope to see you at the course soon, as there still is a lot of great golf to be had this season.
