DYER BROOK, Maine — The Southern Aroostook golf team has a new head coach who has plenty of experience hitting the golf ball around the course.
Phil Faulkner was named the Warriors golf coach this past summer. He replaces Harriett Cyr, who coached the Warriors last season.
Coming into the season, the golf squad was anticipated to be a cooperative team between Southern Aroostook and Katahdin. However, coach Faulkner said none of the six students from Katahdin, who had expressed interest in golf, showed up for practices this summer.
Members of the Warrior golf squad include seniors Riley Robinson and Austin Bishop; juniors Hunter Walker and Arianna Rigby; and sophomore Ali Wenzloff.
“This is a great group of kids who should be fun to watch,” Faulkner said. “I’m a rookie coach when it comes to golf. So I will be learning the rules as we go.”
