Farm time, for most of the world this is the measure of the day. One gets up in the morning when the sun is beginning to peep over the horizon and one goes to sleep when the sun goes down.
Activity is regulated by the needs of the fields and critters. Wild exuberance in the spring and fatigue in the fall as the hard work of growing is rendered into nourishment for the winter.
Defined by this rhythm we learn to enjoy simple pleasures. Memories are charted and obeisance made to Nature’s power. Appreciation abounds for the simple gifts of decent weather and friendships.
He was for all purposes, Mr. Presque Isle. Jim Berry devoted his public life to making the City a little bit better. If there was an organization that needed help he gave. Scouts, the Kiwanis, and his country received this gift and appreciated the sincerity that stood shoulder to shoulder with him. A modest storyteller he had stories to tell. It did not matter what he did, he wanted this City to be proud of itself and to build on the shoulders of those who had worked to make things better. It is a work that remains unfinished, to be picked up by new generations and carried forth into the world of tomorrow.
Whether it was arranging an advertising campaign or putting in that satellite system, James’ humor and dedication spoke to his honor at being given a front row seat on the world of what might be. Richer is the City for his tireless dedication to the future. The stars above welcome one more shining object to their realm.
