Golf teams on the road for matches

The Presque Isle, Fort Fairfield and Central Aroostook golf teams were in action last week, all for matches held in the southern portion of Aroostook County or in northern Penobscot County.

The Wildcats traveled to Lincoln last Tuesday and Houlton the following afternoon.
At JaTo Highlands in Lincoln, PI (191) was two strokes better than Houlton, but Mattanawcook Academy emerged victorious over the Wildcats by 39 strokes.
Wildcat senior Hunter Flynn was one of three co-medalists with a 37. John Saucier shot a 50, Libby Boone at 51 and Seth Roy a 53.
Last Wednesday, the Wildcats placed second with a score of 185. Host Houlton was the winner with 182 and Caribou was third with 208. Flynn had a 45, Saucier a 46 and both Boone and Roy came in with 47s for PI.
Presque Isle is now 3-3 on the season and hosted Caribou Tuesday afternoon.
On Thursday, the Tigers played their season opener against Southern Aroostook at Va Jo Wa Golf Club in Island Falls. Fort Fairfield had a match score of 5-1/2 points to SA’s 3-1/2.
Jon Bernard shot a 51, Sara Edgecomb a 52 and Sadie Edgecomb a 55 for the Tigers.
That same day, Central Aroostook made the trip to Houlton to meet up against Hodgdon in a dual match. The Hawks won in match play, 8-3, and in medal play, 213-220. Ben Tuttle of the Hawks was the medalist with a 39. Shane Stackpole had a score of 44 for the Panthers, with Ted Wheeler coming in with a 53 and Tyson Cyr a 58.
