Shires fall to Dexter in opening game

DEXTER, Maine — The Houlton football team opened its season with a 38-6 loss at Dexter Saturday.

Houlton’s Seth Holston rumbled for 106 yards on 16 carries and scored the Shires’ lone touchdown on the day.

Brandon Allen rushed for two touchdowns to pace the Tigers. Brayden Miller threw for two touchdowns and also returned an interception for a touchdown. Zach White and Jason Campbell each had receiving touchdowns.

Houlton was flagged for six penalties (40 yards), while Dexter had two penalties for 15 yards.
