Wildcat runners compete in Ellsworth
Beavers meet in Houlton
The Presque Isle girls’ and boys’ cross country teams made the trip to the Ellsworth Invitational, held Saturday.
Orono captured the titles. Ten schools participated in the annual event, with the PI girls placing seventh and the boys ninth.
The Wildcat girls scored 181 points — ahead of Hermon, Old Town and Sanford. Sophomore Madison Jandreau was 12th in 22:18.81 and junior Isabelle Jackson was 13th in 22:23.43.
Tia Tardy of Orono had the winning time of 19:23.48 on the three-mile course.
In the boys’ meet, Presque Isle posted 202 points, ahead of Hermon (226). Sophomore Trace Cyr was 20th overall out of 74 runners in 18:55.7 and Max Bartley was 37th in 19:59.47.
John Hassett of George Stevens Academy came in first in 16:13.12.
Last Wednesday, a relay meet was held in Houlton involving the smaller Aroostook County schools. LCS/MSSM came in first with 34 points, followed by GHCA with 23, Fort Kent with 14, Washburn with 12 and Houlton with 10.
The team of Kassie Farley and Devon Maynard of Washburn took the co-ed title in 20:34.
In the girls’ race, the Washburn duo of Molly Clark and Samantha White was sixth at 27:03.
For the boys, the Beavers’ Konner Jordan and Brennan Viola came in sixth in 20:47.
