Maine Adult Education programs are sponsoring an effort to reduce both carbon footprint and traffic load by making buses available to transport people to the Common Ground Fair in Unity.
The fair, which takes place this year Sept. 23-25, is a well attended event featuring food, talks, local exhibitors and products. The fair is the primary annual outreach event for the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA).
A bus will leave from Houlton on Friday, Sept. 23. Contact Melody Gonya at 521-3100, ext. 5, for further information, or visit www.maineadulted.org and enter Common Ground Fair. Several other bus rides are being organized further south.
Travel costs vary by distance; discount admission price is $8 for bus riders (and free for all members). Sign up through the Maine Adult Ed portal by searching for the community listed below or by the words, “Common Ground Fair”. Go to www.maineadulted.org or register by phone.
The Fair helps promote other good options for getting there, including bicycling from nearby designated locations, carpooling (organize your own or use the GoMaine website), or taking the train.
