HOULTON — The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 156 calls for service during the week of Sept. 4-10.
On Sept. 6, Trooper Sylvia covered two crashes on Route 1 in the early morning hours in Weston within two hours of each other. In both crashes the motor vehicles caught fire while they were in motion making them reportable crashes. There were no injuries in either crash and they were not related in anyway.
On Sept. 7, Trooper Luce arrested a 31-year-old male after he strangled his 35-year-old girlfriend in Woodland. A third person reported the two arguing in front of a residence. Tr. Luce arrived and during his investigation it was alleged that the male had strangled and assaulted his girlfriend. Tr. Luce arrested the man and transported him to the Aroostook County Jail.
On Sept. 7, Trooper Saucier summonsed an Island Falls man and woman to Houlton District Court for making bad checks at several local businesses. The couple recently moved to the area and it appears they have been writing bad checks for some time. The value of the checks so far is in the hundreds of dollars and it is expected over time more complaints from local businesses will come in.
On Sept. 8, Trooper Luce arrested a 22-year-old Washburn man after he struck a woman with his vehicle, failed to report the incident (she was injured) and fled the scene. The woman wanted to speak to the man due to her hearing rumors he was trying to engage in sexual activity with her younger sister. The woman saw his truck coming down the road in Perham, got out, and began walking towards him. The man struck the woman with the vehicle, stopped briefly, and then left the area without checking her well-being. Tr. Luce and Tr. Levesque located the man and arrested him for violation of bail, driving to endanger, and failure to report a crash with injuries.
On Sept. 9, Trooper Pescitelli received a complaint regarding a male subject who had been banned from a Mars Hill business and was back on the property drinking beer and urinating on the buildings. Tr. Pescitelli met the male behind the business and recognized him. The male was on bail not to use or possess any alcohol was consuming alcohol when Tr. Pescitelli saw him and as a result, the male was arrested for Trespassing and Violating Conditions of Release and brought to Aroostook County Jail.
On Sept. 8, Maine State Police investigated an incident that took place in Easton, Eagle Lake and Lincoln. During the week, Sgt. Fuller and Glenni responded to three requests for K-9’s from local agencies. Aroostook S.O called on two separate occasions to locate subjects from well-being type checks and Lincoln PD called for assistance with locating subjects that fled from a vehicle. In the S.O calls, one subject was located walking on the road and in the second the subject was located prior to arrival. On the Lincoln incident, Sgt. Fuller and Glenni conducted a successful track, identifying one of the occupants from the vehicle.
