The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department’s youth soccer leagues began play recently. Summaries from the first week of action are as follows:
Galaxy vs. Revolution
Noah Kilcollins played outstanding as right forward, making an effort to score every chance he could. His teammates Ava Finelli and Kadence McDougal played hard and Brody Anderson, Amelia Godin and Evan Ayer all had great saves in the goal. Alex Thibodeau, Mollie Crane, Matthew Sneddon and Dustin Sneddon defended their goal from the players on Revolution.
Brayden Brescia was unstoppable as he scored eight of the nine goals for the Revolution in the first game of the season. Trent Hersey also scored a goal while Alexander Chavatel, Josh “Pit” Pitre, Gracie Rossignol, Marshall Hersey and Desiree Ouellette each had an assist. Great stops by the Galaxy’s goalkeeper prevented goals by Joslyn Griffeth and Hanna Willey. On the defensive end, Abby Haney did a great job in goal and with great hustle on the field while Evan St. Peter and Joshua Chavatel also performed well on defense in the shutout.
D.C. vs. Red Bulls
Lexi Disy was great as goalie the first quarter with the offensive team having multiple shots on goal and being surrounded by Red Bull players. Carsen Richards kept them from scoring on a direct kick by heading the ball while on the goal line. The D.C. squad had played hard for the entire 48 minutes, constantly making steals, multiple runs, taking shots on goal and moving the ball throughout the field. The entire team consisting of Landen Belanger, Brianne Levesque, Gage Hale, Ben Bouchard, Richards, Nikko Love, Naliyah Love, Emily Fraser, Cameron Webster, Ashley Hartsgrove and Lexi Disy supported each other well to help keep the score tied.
Disy and Bouchard both had two excellent saves and Richards on defense had a header save to help Bouchard in goal. Love scored a goal in the first half off a Hartsgrove assist. In the second half, Hale put two in the net and Richards also put one in the goal. Richards and Levesque both added assists for D.C.
Red Bulls’ Edison Sleeper posted two goals, while Ty Hunter and Tristan Robins each found the net as well. Assists were credited to Tait Margeson and George Solomon. The defense was led by Landin Spooner, Madelynn Deprey, Madelynn Cote and Jacob McDougal.
Timbers vs. Galaxy
Landyn Waldemarson, Owen Corrigan, Damiran Martin Williams and Luke Beidelman all were successful at putting the ball past the goal line. Great defending was led by Lauren Lister and Byrnn Hamilton. This was a back and forth game all night with Timbers up one goal by Luke Beidelman to conclude the fourth period. The defense held the Galaxy scoreless in the last period.
Brazil vs. USA
Brazil and USA played a hard fought game to a 2 to 2 tie. Brazil goal scorers were Alex Levesque and Jacob Walton. Brazil received good defensive stops by Jayden Picard, Tyra Sterner, Keegan Bell and Emma Butler and goalies Jacob Walton, Calvin Hersey and Jace Violette helped keep USA’s scoring down to only two goals.
Galaxy vs. Timbers
David Uchendu, Ava Finelli and Noah Kilcollins played outstanding as forwards. Strong defense was provided by Liv Adams, Alex Thibodeau, Mollie Crane, Kadence McDougaland Amelia Godin.
Revolution vs. Red Bulls
The Revolution played a good game but came up short against the Red Bulls. Brayden Brescia scored both of the goals for the Revolution in the 5-2 loss. Gracie Rossignol, Trent Hersey and Hannah Willey Forbes put pressure on the Red Bull defense but could not score in a couple of good chances. Alexander Chavatel, Abby Haney and Evan St. Peter kept the game close with some great defense and lots of hustle.
The Red Bulls found the net five times. Three goals were scored by Tristan Robins and one each by Madelynn Cote and Tait Margeson. It was Cote’s first career goal. Solid defense was led by Madelynn Deprey, Edison Sleeper and Jacob McDougal.
Revolution vs. Timbers
The Revolution played a hard fought game but could not break through the Timbers’ defense to score any goals in the shutout. Marshall Hersey, Desiree Ouellette and Joslyn Griffeth created several opportunities to put the ball in the goal but good saves were made by the Timbers’ goalkeeper. Joshua Chavatel and Pit Pitre led the Revolution’s defense in keeping their opponents from the goal but could not completely hold down their good offensive line.
Galaxy vs. D.C.
Galaxy’s David Uchendu had two goals and an assist. Kadence McDougal put the ball in the net and added an assist. Ava Finelli assisted Uchendu’s goal. The Galaxy defense never let up. The game was close and play was outstanding.
D.C. vs. Galaxy
Landen Belanger and Carson Richards both had goals for D.C. Ben Bouchard recorded an assist. There was a big improvement in our defense. Emily Fraser, Brianne Levesque and Ashley Hartsgrove did outstanding. Cameron Webster did well in goal and Nikko Love hustled all over the field as well.
Timbers vs. Revolution
The Timbers had many goals in this contest. Damarin Martin Williams had five, Owen Corrigan two and Luke Beidelman one. Defensive players of the game were Landyn Waldemarson, Braxton McCrossin, Isabella Cherrier and Heather Gustin. This contest was a great effort by the whole team as there was great passing and outstanding defense.
