From the Bunkers

The Men’s Twilight league playoffs were contested this weekend under sunny skies. After winning three nine hole matches on Saturday, Marty Bouchard and Brian Fitzpatrick met Bill Boulier and Peter Lawlor in the final 18-hole match on Sunday.

After a hard fought battle, Marty and Brian came out victorious. Congrats to the champs. Thank you to all players in the league who helped make this a fun season. But that is not the end of the golf season. There is still plenty of good weather and time left to enjoy our course before you put the sticks away.

Coming this weekend, we will have the Ryan Wright/Elks scramble on Saturday morning. On Sunday, we will host our half of the Ryder cup competition with Mars Hill Country Club. Starting at 3 p.m. will be the annual Cross Country par three tournament. It is a reconfigured layout of our course and is always a fun match. All proceeds will go to help with travel expenses for treatment for Greg Palmer. The end of the month will feature a night golf tournament.

The Ladies Twilight held a closing banquet on Tuesday night. It was well attended and catered by our Lakeside Restaurant. And speaking of the Lakeside, they have started their harvest menu, featuring a complete turkey meal, duck with blueberry sauce, and a new California reuben sandwich. Coming Sept. 23 will be entertainment by Paul LaPointe.

We would like to thank the volunteers who came out Sunday morning with their weed wackers and rakes. They tackled the woods to the left of No. 2 fairway. What they were able to accomplish in a short time really is visible. Thank you Doug Griffin, Sean Dolomont, Gary Severson, Jane and Jerry York, and Paul Madigan. Good job! Hope to see you at the course soon.
