CASWELL, Maine — Caribou Fire and Ambulance responded to a storage shed fire on 853 West Gate road at approximately noon last Friday. According to Chief Scott Susi, no individuals were harmed during the fire and it was extinguished in roughly five minutes.

According to the chief, there was a miscommunication with 9-1-1 dispatch and, even though the fire was outside the department’s jurisdiction, they still responded.

The Limestone Fire Department also assisted in fighting the fire, while Presque Isle’s department covered the Caribou station.

“It wasn’t very severe,” said Susi, who was expecting a larger fire. “You go out for these calls and it’s usually a farmer’s shed or a packing shed, but when we got out there and it was truly a shed.”

Susi added that the shed was within close proximity to a well house, and was relieved that they were able to save it before any additional damage occurred.

“They would’ve been totally without water if the next shed had burned down,” said the chief.
