LIMESTONE, Maine — As the 2016-2017 school year begins, the Maine School of Science and Mathematics has welcomed new faculty and support staff.
Hyosun “Sunny” Hong is a new addition to MSSM’s world language team as Spanish instructor. She completed her bachelor of arts degree from Bates College, majoring in Spanish and earning a minor in mathematics.
Her internship/student teaching was completed at the Lewiston High School.
Ryan McDonald, an internationally experienced educator, has joined the residential life team with a BS in printing management and completed graduate level coursework toward an MS in technology.
He brings many volunteer hours and a myriad of experiences, along with fluency in Japanese, to the residential life program.
Jonathan McEndarfer will work within residential life on a part time basis. He is from Woodland and has worked at MSSM Summer Camp, and was also an MSSM houseparent from 2012-2014.
He is a full time dietary aide at Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center.
Tracy Meyer, a native of New York, has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in chemistry from Southwest Texas State University. While in Texas, she taught public school for three years and chemistry at a community college for five years.
She and her husband, math instructor Todd Smith, have two teenage children and reside in Limestone.
Mark Tasker is a founding member of MSSM and said he is thrilled to return to the school for a second tour. A graduate of the University of Maine and the University of Minnesota (with a stop at Berklee College of Music), he will teach American history and run the jazz combo/ensemble program.
Most recently, he served as Social Science Department chair at John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor, the city in which his jazz fusion group, Aurora Jazz Project, was based.
