HODGDON —John “Jack” H. Topolosky, 83, passed away on Wed. , September 14, 2016 at home surrounded by his family after a long battle with heart disease. Jack was born on September 19, 1932. His childhood home was Woodland (Baileyville), ME.
Jack was a member of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He loved his Catholic faith. He passed his love of Christ onto his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. During his life Jack was fully involved in the pro-life movement. He supported and participated in innumerable rallies, 40 Days for Life, and prayer vigils both in the U.S. and in Canada.
Jack was a mechanical engineer working in many paper mills in the state of Maine as well as in New York and Ohio. After his early retirement he ran the family business – the Elmwood Lodge and Motel in Boscawen, NH. Jack will be remembered for his unique sense of humor. He was joking with family until the very end.
Jack was predeceased by his bride of 61 years, Nancy Anne (McGarrigle) Topolosky, his parents, John and Hannah Topolosky and his much cherished great-granddaughter, Anna Catherine Mason.
Jack is survived by his sixchildren and their families: Peter and Leanne Topolosky of Bow, NH and their daughter Amy and Justin Campbell and their children Jackson and Nicolas; Susan and Brian Mason of Concord, NH and their children Rev. Matthew Mason, John and Sarah Mason (their children James, Marc, and Benjamin), Mary, Elizabeth, Catherine, Joseph, and Daniel; Michael Topolosky of Manassas, VA and his daughter, Ashley; Theresa and Brian Griffin of Hodgdon, ME and their children Stephen, Paul, Greg, Melanie, Rebecca, and Joseph; Paul and Kathy Topolosky of Bow, NH and their children Hannah and John; Joe Topolosky of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Services were held on Monday, September 19th with full military honors and were officiated by Rev. Matthew Mason and Rev. David Raymond. A very special heart-felt thanks to the Visiting Nurses of Aroostook County and Dr. Lisa Nielsen for helping Jack stay in his home with his family during his final days and to the physicians and staff at Houlton Regional Hospital for their care and compassion during his illnesses.
