HOULTON — Philip Bernaiche, 87, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Houlton Regional Hospital with family at his side.
He was born in Stockholm, the son of Donat and Edith Bernaiche. Phil was an advocate for the community. His passion was serving on multiple committees for the Town of Houlton. He served several terms on the town council with people’s interest at heart. He was also a member of NAMI and was a voice for the mentally ill.
He leaves behind six children, Gary Bernaiche and his significant other Barb, Cheryl and her husband, Averill, Darrell and his wife, Mary, James and his wife, Mary Ellen, Rebecca and her husband, Scott, David Bernaiche; special friends, Carl and Priscilla Lord; grandchildren: Toni, Mindy, Shasta, Ryan, Justin, Ian, Kelly, Devon, Chris, Jon; great-grandchildren: Gabby, Mia, Ethan, Elijah, Ambrose; and also three “grandchildren,” Kiara, Brooklyn, and Innie. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marie; a brother Peter Bernaiche, and a sister, Joanne Brewer.
Friends called from 6-8p.m. Tuesday September 20, 2016 at Dunn Funeral Home 11 Park St., Houlton. A Mass Of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Mary of the Visitation with Fr. David Raymond celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Houlton. The family invites relatives and friends for a time of refreshment at the church fellowiship hall following the interment. Arrangement in care of Dunn Funeral Home.
