FF market wraps up first season

FORT FAIRFIELD — The Fort Fairfield Farmers’ Market Association (FFFMA) will end its first market season on Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 2-6 p.m. in downtown Fort Fairfield.

The group will celebrate its first-year success with a potluck at Riverside Park in Fort Fairfield on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. for members and any interested vendors considering joining the group next season. The potluck will include an informal meeting to wrap up the season and prepare for next year.

All are invited to come support local farmers, food producers and crafters over their last few Wednesday afternoons. The market will feature eggs, seasonal vegetables, herbs, flowers, fresh bread and baked goods, handmade jewelry, and both packaged and fresh brewed coffee.

According to FFFMA organizers, market days have seen regular and new customers shop from a range of vendors. The group has eight members and has hosted three guests. Pines Health Services and Healthy Aroostook joined the group, and provided health and food information over the summer season.

The association expressed thanks to all who have come out each Wednesday to support its members. Interested vendors can contact Lori Risner (472-0690), Kate Schupbach (472-6009) or send an email to fortsfarmersmarket@gmail.com for more information.
