DAMORE, Lawrence J., 83, Presque Isle, September 25, 2016. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at the Mapleton United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
PRESQUE ISLE – Lawrence J. “Larry” Damore, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday night September 25, 2016, following a brief illness at a Presque Isle health care facility. He was born November 13, 1932, in Frankford, PA, the son of Anthony Damore and Mary Antoinette Fiorella.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force 1950-1954. He worked for 20 years at International Paper in Blackstone Siding and Clayton Lake. Larry was best known for his strong work ethic, lending his baritone voice to a gospel song with the Mapleton Methodist Church Choir, and his love of fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret (Tompkins) Damore of Presque Isle; two daughters, Vickie Murchison and her husband, Bay of Hampden, Suzanne (Damore) Miller and her husband, Jack of Magnolia, DE; and a grandson, Ryan Damore of Galloway, NJ. He was predeceased by his son, Sandy Lawrence Damore in 1998.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at the Mapleton United Methodist Church with Pastor Nathan Gardiner officiating. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service. Interment with military honors will be held at Johnson Cemetery, Presque Isle.
