PRESQUE ISLE, Maine The Redy Youth Triathlon was held in rainy conditions on Sept. 11, with winners crowned in five divisions.

 

The event, sponsored by The Aroostook Medical Center, took place on the University of Maine at Presque Isle campus and included 37 participants.
Taking first place in the 7-9 year-old girls’ category was Mia Shaw. Annie Morrison was the runner-up and Jayden Harvell placed third. Quinn Michaud was the champion for 7-9 year-old boys. He was followed by Josh Harvell and David Shaw. The event for this age group included a 50-yard swim, a two-mile bike and a half-mile run.
In the 10-12 girls’ division, Isabella Keegan was the winner, followed by Olivia Locke and Taylor Thompson. For 10-12 boys, Fletcher Marquis came in first, followed by Caleb Levesque and Kaden Theriault. Competitors swam 50 yards, biked for 2-1/2 miles and ran one mile.
The 13-14 year-old girls’ champion was Rhylee Kinney. Amy Gerritsen was second and Isabella Desjardins was third. In this older age group, participants swam 100 yards, biked 2-1/2 miles and ran a mile. There were no boys signed up in this division.
