Cross country results from Old Town meet

Madison Jandreau and Max Bartley were Presque Isle’s top finishers at the Old Town Sectional Invitational cross country meet, held Saturday.
Jandreau was 17th out of 73 runners in the girls’ race. Her time on the 3.1-mile course was 22 minutes and 14.6 seconds. Isabelle Jackson was the only other Wildcat to compete and her time of 23:10.5 placed her 29th in the field.
Bartley recorded a time of 19:09.73 and came in 24th out of 80 runners. Trace Cyr was 32nd in 19:51.42 and Joshua Ashton (20:31.47) and Brandon McKnight (20:46.89) were 45th and 49th, respectively. Owen McQuarrie was the other PI competitor and he came in 61st in 21:52.09.
Presque Isle placed eighth out of 11 teams.
The next varsity meet is the Festival of Champions, to be held in Belfast Saturday.

Halvorson tabbed for weekly honor

UMPI women’s soccer player Carla Halvorson was named the USCAA Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 18. The senior from Easton scored the lone goal against Unity College, helping her team to a 1-1 draw. Against Fisher College, she scored two goals in the opening minutes of the second half to help the Owls to their first victory of the season.

Men’s basketball

The recreation departments from Caribou and Presque Isle are currently registering men’s adult league basketball teams. Registration will remain open until Oct. 31. The league will begin in early November and games will be played in both Caribou and Presque Isle. Game nights are Mondays and Wednesdays between 6-9 p.m.

Goughan Farm Adventure

On Tuesday, Oct. 4, the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department is conducting a youth field trip to the Goughan Farm for a fun day of activity and adventure. The trip includes transportation to and from the farm, a group hay ride, exploration of the corn maze, homemade ice cream and a take-home pumpkin, all for just $6 per person. For an additional $2.50, participants can play nine holes of mini golf, or for an extra $5 participants can play the entire 18-hole course before leaving the farm, or play nine holes for $2.50.
The bus will depart from the community center at noon and return at approximately 3:30 p.m. Participants must be at least 10 years of age or be accompanied by a responsible chaperone.

Fall foliage luncheon

There will be a fall foliage luncheon excursion to the Lakeview Restaurant in St. Agatha on Thursday, Oct. 6 for all senior citizens and their guests, offered through the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department.
The tour bus will depart from the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort Fairfield at 10 a.m. and will return at approximately 2:30 p.m. There is no charge for the bus transportation but all participants are responsible for the cost of their own lunch.
