WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King have announced that 18 community health centers, including several in northern Maine, will receive a total of $963,623 in federal funding to support their operations and provide quality health care services.
“Access to high-quality, affordable health care is essential to the well-being of Mainers across the state. That’s why investing in community health centers is so important,” Senators Collins and King said in a joint statement. “These federal grants will continue to provide critical support for these facilities and help give people throughout Maine the care they deserve.”
Area health care organizations receiving funding include: Pines Health Services in Caribou will receive $56,791; Katahdin Valley Health Center in Patten will receive $55,495; and Fish River Rural Health in Eagle Lake will receive $50,253.
The grant funding is awarded through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that is charged with improving access to health care by building healthy communities, strengthening the health care workforce, and achieving health equity.
