HOULTON, Maine — Aroostook County Action Program, Inc. has announced that Brenda Hersey, a preschool and collaboration teacher at ACAP Early Care and Education Center in Houlton has received the 2016 Marcia Lovell Award.
This award is presented by Maine Roads to Quality to recognize Maine’s outstanding early childhood educators.
“We are so pleased that Brenda has received this award,” said Sue Powers, senior manager. “Brenda is passionate about serving children. Her talent and creativity have impacted many young lives through the years. She truly embodies the spirit of this award.”
Maine Roads to Quality created the Marcia Lovell Award for Innovation in Early Care and Education to recognize professionals who make significant contributions to the children, families and communities in which they work and embody the ideals in which Marcia advocated: better lives for children, high quality early education experiences, support for all children – including those most at risk and with disabilities, and the belief that the arts are an integral part of early education programs.
“Last year Linda Stevens, also a teacher at ACAP Early Care and Education Center in Houlton received this award,” explains Powers. “This recognition of our teachers is just one way we demonstrate the caliber of our early childhood programs at ACAP.”
