Donald is a 3-year old gray/white neutered male cat who was positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) when turned in to Halfway Home Pet Rescue in early summer, and is a perfect fit for the young family who wanted to adopt a special-needs cat. Many people don’t consider such cats when adopting, but FIV-positive cats can live for many years before they ever start to show symptoms. HHPR offers cats like Donald to homes who have no other cats in the house and/or have already adopted another FIV-positive cat.  By sterilizing all the cats in a colony, the spread of the disease is stopped.
