LIMESTONE, Maine — The Loring Job Corps Center recently hosted a luncheon for local community public relations personnel, along with an exhibit of their various trades and skills.
The event recognized and celebrated Job Corps’ 20th year of providing skills and work opportunities to eligible people ages 16 through 24. The program’s mission is to teach skills that may be needed to become employable with an end goal of obtaining a meaningful job and ultimately improving the quality of their students’ lives.
“This was such a wonderful luncheon the students put on for us,” said Casey Bouchard, communications specialist with Pines Health Services.
The students set up booths of their specific trades and displayed their craftsmanship for all to see, while the culinary students served up a delicious meal, Bouchard said.
To date, students at Loring Job Corps have participated in many events and tallied thousands of hours of community service to local communities in northern Maine.
The Loring Center is overseen by the Boston Regional Office of Job Corps and is operated by Career Systems Development Corporation. The center director is Kristie Moir.
