HOULTON — Carol Ann Cropley, 68, passed away Oct. 3, 2016 in a Portland hospital. She was born Dec. 3, 1947 in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of Elvin and Sammie (Jackson) Gazay.
Carol grew up in California, graduating from Magnolia High School in Anaheim, CA. She married Gary Cropley on May 8, 1971, and together they spent 46 years raising their family. Carol was a homemaker and also drove school busses for handicapped children. She loved reading, knitting, sewing and needlepoint. Carol and Gary loved to dance, even winning contests. Helping abused and mistreated kids was very important to Carol, as were her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a straight-to-the-point kind of lady. Her greatest love was her family and her grandkids.
Carol is survived by her husband of 46 years Gary Dean Cropley, Sr. of Houlton; her children Gerald Ray Cropley and his wife Barbara of Woodland, CA, Christine Joanne Madrigal of Anaheim, CA, Gary Dean Cropley, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Fullerton, CA, Katie Mae Shelvy of Jackson-ville, FL; six grandchildren Bynjamin, Heather, Kayla, Anthony, Kayden and Maya; her brother Alan Gazay; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and her siblings Shera, David and Brenda.
Friends called at the Dunn Funeral Home 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 until the time of the service 12 noon with Rev. Mel Norton officiating. Interment was in the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta 12 noon, Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016.
