WARDWELL, David W., Sr., 56, Ashland, at Caribou, September 23, 2016. A Celebration of Life was held at the Ashland Advent Christian Church.
ASHLAND – David W. Wardwell, Sr., 56, passed away quietly on September 23, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer at the Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center with his wife at his side. David was born on January 16, 1960, in Caribou, to Lloyd, Sr. and the late Thelma (Watson) Wardwell.
David had a life-long love of the North Maine woods and spent as much time there as possible. His career centered around the forestry industry, firstly as a wood harvester and later as a heavy equipment operator building wood’s roads. He could tell you exactly where any side road was located, but wouldn’t reveal the best fishing spots. He would gladly share a beer with anyone who was interested and trade stories about his many adventures of fishing, hunting, or camping. David’s passion in life was fishing; a mounted 5 pound, 24” brook trout remains as proof of that passion. David was a jack-of-all trades and had a way of figuring out solutions to any project presented to him. He would gladly lend a hand to anyone in need and often did just that.
David is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rebecca, and their three children, Jill Wardwell of Easton, David Wardwell, Jr. and wife, Paige, of Mapleton, and Bethany Morton and husband, Sam, of Ashland. David is also survived by five beautiful granddaughters of which he was very proud: Kirsten, Grace, Charlotte, Evelynn, and Willow. David has four surviving sisters: Juanita Campagna of Madawaska, Darlene Espling and husband, Sheldon, of Caribou, Peggy Lagasse and partner, Rick Harvey, of Mapleton, and Bonnie Burnett and husband, Bob, of Chapman; and three brothers: Lloyd, Jr. of Mapleton, Darin and wife, Kim, and Ken, all of Fairbanks, AK, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and special friends. In addition to his mother, David was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Hemingway; three brothers-in-law, Albert Hemingway, Phil Campagna, and Ron Lagasse; and his mother- and father-in-law, Joyce and Allen Bragdon.
A Celebration of Life was held at the Ashland Advent Christian Church, 42 Exchange St., Ashland, on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 1-4 p.m. Those who wish to remember David in a special way may make a donation in David’s memory to C*A*N*C*E*R, P.O.
