WYTOPITLOCK — Hazen ‘Buster’ Lee Brown, 69, of Santa Claus Hill in Wytopitlock passed away peacefully with his daughters at his side on October 8 at Houlton Regional Hospital.

Buster is survived by his daughter Dee Butler and her husband Brad of New Limerick, daughter Holly Wallace and her husband Beau of Cumberland, brother Les Brown and sister-in-law Julie from East Millinocket, grandchildren Justin and Ariel Foss, Cassie Butler, Alex and Katie Wallace and great -grandchildren Aria and Chandler Foss, several nieces and nephews, very special Aunt Betty Lent and more wonderful and caring friends than anyone can hope for.

Buster was predeceased by his parents, Ted and Berneice ‘Bunny’ Brown, his infant son, Jason, his brother Richard, sister-in-law Linda and nephews Ricky and Tom. Buster graduated from Wytopitlock High School in 1965, then attended Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. He worked as a mechanic and owned and drove a log truck for several years. A very dedicated father, he faithfully attended every single HS basketball game that his daughters played in and didn’t hesitate to provide input on the long car rides home from those games. He will always be remembered for his quick smile and wit, for telling it like it is in as few words as possible, for his uncanny ability to affectionately tease others and to issue directives (mostly towards his daughters and Brenda) regarding things that should or could be done. With love, they were carried out.

Buster’s favorite pastimes were watching the Red Sox and Patriots, spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoying his many friends. He especially cherished the memories of the many summers spent camping with everyone he loved. Many of the world’s problems were solved around those campfires.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to the Health Services Foundation at Houlton Regional Hospital, PO Box 1231, Houlton, ME 04730. The family would also encourage anyone considering quitting smoking to reach out to the Maine Tobacco Helpline. Because of their great work everyone had three more years with Buster than was expected.

A graveside service will be held at the Clifford Cemetery on Military Rd, Wytopitlock, at noon on Wednesday, October 12, with Reverend Steve Waite officiating.
