Kennel club hosts dog trainer, author

PRESQUE ISLE — The Central Aroostook Kennel Club (CAKC) will host world-renowned dog trainer, author and consultant Suzanne Clothier Oct. 22 and 23 at the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center.

Clothier is is the author of the award winning book “Bones Would Rain From the Sky: Deepening Our Relationship with Dogs.”
“Suzanne has presented workshops literally around the world; we are excited to bring her expertise and knowledge to Aroostook County,” stated Leslie Gardiner CAKC’s treasurer. “Anyone who would like to improve their relationship with their dog will benefit from attending.”
On Saturday, Oct. 22, the new seminar on raising dogs, “Grow Your Best Friend,” will be featured. Clothier will explain how to cultivate, rather than merely raise or train, a dog so owners can enrich their relationships with their pets in new ways.
The seminar on Sunday, Oct. 23, is “What’s the Problem? Unraveling the Puzzle of Behavior, Training and Performance.” Clothier will highlight practical and powerful methods of understanding behavior, training or performance problems, and will help owners identify areas needing attention, recognize effective training methods, and understand their dog as a physical, emotional and mental being.
Clothier teaches with humor, scientific knowledge and a deep passion for dogs, emphasizing relationship-centered training principles and combined with her lifetime of experience raising dogs and helping others do the same.
Participants can attend one day or both days, and trainers can earn continuing education credits. Shelter workers can inquire about the special offering for their category
